The Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) is a national association dedicated to creating standards and formats to improve construction documents and project delivery through better communication. The organization is unique in the industry because its members are a cross section of specifiers, architects, engineers, contractors and building materials suppliers.
CSI provides this wiki for the construction community to share definitions and increase understanding of the issues, terminology and documents that drive commercial construction.
Why a wiki? A wiki simplifies the creation of a collaborative environment where anyone can participate and contribute, -- no special web programming knowledge is required. A wiki is a browser-based collaborative writing environment, a freely expandable collection of inter-linked web pages. Any contributor can add to the body of knowledge, and any contributor can edit the content. A wiki strongly fosters a community -- and this wiki is dedicated to the Construction Community. We invite you to participate!
Not a CSI member? You don't need to be to add content to this wiki -- but please consider joining.
Can't find a term? Visit CSI's forums at www.csinet.org, click forums, and post your question. CSI's members are experts in construction documentation, sustainability, building information modeling (BIM), and other topics. They're alway willing to help.
